EuroVelo Route 11 - Gauja National Park

EuroVelo is a network of long distance cycle routes connecting and uniting the whole European continent. The routes can be used by long-distance cycle tourists, as well as by local people making daily exciting journeys.

Discover picturesque Gauja National park - the largest national park in the Baltic States by cycling EuroVelo route 11 that connects North Cape and Athens, in total 11 countries, in its full length - 6750 kilometers.

By cycling EuroVelo 11 route, travelers can learn about Latvian heritage and cultural history, visit popular tourist sights and experience the daily lives of the local inhabitants. The route 11 leads cycling enthusiasts in Latvia throughLithiania-Latvia border in Latgale reagion called blue lake land and leads further in Estonia through twinning town Valka-Valga

Route 11 zigzags in the national park in 37 kilometers, introducing adventurous with the vibrant city of Sigulda surrounded by nature, called Switzerland of Latvia, hidden gem - Līgatne village with cliff outcrops and to the cellar caves of the ancient inhabitants, romantic and charming Cēsis town and its county.

Cycling route leads through forest paths, winding streets of the cities and villages, picturesque landscapes and hills. In total 47% of Gauja National park territory is covered in forests, providing a home for wildlife and rich biodiversity.

Gauja National park hosts the visitors in cozy holiday houses, elegant hotels, royal manor houses and palaces, more authentic glampings and quiet campsites. Local catering will lead you on a gastronomic journey of Latvian kitchen and European menu.

In Latvia two more EuroVelo routes discover the beauty of the country: route 10 and route 13, revealing the coastline. The quiet and beautiful coastline stretches for almost 500 kilometers. The Baltic Sea here is charming, with its distinct character and rich traditions of all Latvian people.
