History of the Dikļu Castle

The Dikļu castle is an impressive neo-baroque building decorated with gorgeous mansard roofs, ancient facade ornaments and surroundings of a large nature park.

The beautiful Dikļu castle was built on the land of the old Dikļu manor. It is surrounded by approximately 20 hectares of a vast nature park with quiet ponds, winding paths and flower compositions. Strolling in the park, you can see dozens of tree species.

Throughout the centuries, the Dikļu manor was ruled by different owners. The longest period of ownership was when the manor belonged to Pāleni family who managed the manor for 300 years. The manor was restored in the early 21st century, preserving its shape and authentic elements of the interior.

The castle makes its visitors feel the atmosphere of ancient elegance. During the renovation works, panels of wooden walls and ceiling, windows, doors and Cigar hall parquet on the first floor of the castle were restored.

The castle rooms are furnished by means of exquisite interior details and items. Old fireplaces and stoves are especially distinguished, which were carefully restored, preserving their authentic appearance.

In cold winter evenings, the fireplaces fill the castle rooms with cozy warmth of fire.
