Midsummer celebration in Turaida

On the shortest night in Turaida you can enjoy ancient celebration rituals, traditions, folk songs and dances. Every year, on the shortest night – 21 June, the Turaida Museum reserve celebrates the summer solstice feast. From 19.00 till sunrise every visitor is welcome to experience the solstice night feast, following the old traditions, participating in events and enjoying the magic of nature, the sun and the magic of midsummer songs. That is the summer solstice when all living creature receive the forces of nature and thrive on an unusual glory. Folklore groups show how to make wreaths, adorn fencing and make cheese for enjoying the sun and observing the fire rituals. People play in historical games and dance the ancient dances until sunrise.
