Garden of Artists by Anna Ludiņa

In the Garden of Artists by Anna Ludiņa trees were planted by many excellent Latvian artists in the Garden of Artists which is a green open-air walking area.

Anna Ludiņa-Pabiana (1906-1998) was a soloist at the Latvian National Opera. Her beautiful mezzo-soprano was enjoyed by spectators for more than 30 years in more than 70 performances.

Together with her husband Adrians Pabians and their children they planted the first trees in May 1964 in her summer home “Līgotnes”.

The large Garden of Artists by Anna Ludiņa is home to more than 150 trees — oaks, linden-trees, thujas, fir-trees, birches, elms of various species, and other trees.

The trees in the garden are planted by excellent personalities such as opera stars — Milda Brehmane-Štengele, Žermēna Heine-Vāgnere, ballet dancers — Haralds Ritenbergs and Anna Priede, composers — Lūcija Garūta, Raimonds Pauls, poets — Imants Ziedonis and Jānis Peters, and many more. There is a plate next to each tree bearing the name of the person, who planted the tree, the name of the tree and the year it was planted.

Anna Ludiņa-Pabiana created the garden for it to grow for centuries long and tell about excellent Latvian individuals. There is a stone in the garden placed in memory of Anna Ludiņa-Pabiana. The garden is taken care of by her children and local volunteers.
