Kvēpene oak

Among the most scenic secular oaks in Latvia, which grows next to the private home “Kvēpene”, on the right primeval valley wall of river Gauja.

There is evidence that the oak was the prototype of the one depicted on the recent Latvian currency – 5 Lats. Not far from it – Kvēpene hillfort and Kvēpene cave. On the tree there are sulphur shelves.
