Source of the Gauja River

There is some truth in every tale. As well as there is in Kārlis Skalbe’s /Kārlis Skalbe/ belief that the Gauja river begins at Incēnu mountain near the place where he was born. The outlet of the Gauja river is subject to many tales and legends, it has been surveyed and described, sourcing passions from time to time. Meanwhile, the tiny Gauja river starts its fast run to the sea from the western part of the Alauksts lake gradually becoming stronger and deeper, becoming the real Gauja river near the Nēķena manor. Not everyone believes in tales and to researchers, however, everyone believes his own eyes. Therefore, there is high time to put on shoes and take the road.
